Today, I’m going to teach you about dealing with a seller in a market place or a department store:
Pila i nya? – How much is this? (Pila – how much; i – is; nya – this)
Mapakay mayag? – Can I bargain? (mapakay – can i; mayag – bargain)
Mapakay enggay nengka sa $/P____? – Can you give it for $/P______?
You can also say: Enggay nengka den ka “buena manu.” – Give it as “buena mano.”
“buena mano” is Spanish for “good hand.” Many cultures, not just our own, have this magical belief that a good sale — a transaction involving the hands — at the start of the day brings in more customers and more transactions. (Pinoy Kasi)
Buwangi ka pan – (Please) give additional (when buying fruits, for example)
Pebpasan i nya ba? – Is this for sale? (pebpasan – for sale; nya ba/nya – this)
